Kuniyoshi Yukio – A short biography

Kuniyoshi Sensei was one of the long time students of Dai Sensei Eisuke Akamine and in later years was the Dojo instructor at the Honbu Dojo, Nesabu, Tomigusuku Village after Dai Sensei got too sick to teach in the Honbu. He also ran his own Dojo in Kochinda where he taught Karate and Kobudo to the local children and a few adults. Hiroshi Akamine inherited the Tomigusuku Honbu Dojo and was also appointed the Association President after the death of Dai Sensei in 1999. He took over the teaching responsibility from Kuniyoshi Sensei who then taught only at his own Dojo.
He took over as the third president of Ryukyu Kobudo Hozon Shinko Kai in 2013 and has been promoting the Okinawan Art of Kobudo ever since.
All practitioners the are interested in Kobudo and have to opportunity to find themselves on Okinawa Island is welcome to pop in and spend some time with him.

1968: Introduction to Shitō-ryū Karate, Uechi Dojo
1970: Awarded 1st Dan
1972: Awarded 2nd Dan
1974: Interrupted due to the death of Kuniyoshi’s teacher/sensei

1978: Joined and practiced Ryukyu Kobudo Hozon Shinko Kai and Funakoshi Shorin Ryu under Eisuke Akamine Dai Sensei
1979: Awarded 1st Dan in Kobudo and Karate
1984: Awarded 5th Dan in Kobudo and Karate
1999: Awarded 7th Dan in Kobudo and Karate at the death of Dai Sensei Eisuke Akamine
2013: Appointed as the third president of Ryukyu Kobudo Hozon Shinko Kai
2019: Awarded 8th Dan by Okinawa Traditional Kobudo Federation
